USD 286 introduces new staff

Several new teachers are on the USD 286 faculty roster as local schools begin the 2008-09 school year on Wednesday.

At Sedan Elementary School, Kim McIntosh and Gena Thompson are the newest elementary teachers. They both will teach at the first grade level.

McIntosh is in her first year of teaching after having served as a substitute teacher in the Caney Valley school system last year. The Caney native earned her teaching degree from Newman University.

Thompson comes to Sedan after several years of teaching experience in the Coffeyville school district.

Her husband is Jim Bob Thompson, who will be the vocational teacher at Sedan Jr.-Sr. High School and serve as the Sedan FFA advisor. Thompson was previously a vocational teacher and FFA advisor at Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville.

Trisha Roudybush, a Burden native, joins the USD 286 staff as a part-time music instructor. Roudybush is no stranger to Sedan. She helped implement a stringed instrument program last year in Sedan.

Roudybush is a graduate of Southwestern College in Winfield.

Also on the USD 286 teaching roster this year is Chris Jeffery, a familiar face and name in Sedan. The former Sedan Jr.-Sr. High School principal returns to the local district as a social studies teacher at the jr.-sr. high level.

The special education staff also welcomes Mona Cody, a registered nurse, in working with special needs students.

On the support staff, USD 286 has two new custodians: Lacie Hotchkin and Kevin Henson.
