Epiphany Episcopal to hold centennial celebration

Epiphany Episcopal Church in Sedan will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 23. The public is invited to attend a concert and reception, starting at 2 p.m. in the church which is located at 309 W. Elm.The Parks Family from Bartlesville will perform a program of gospel music. People from Chautauqua County will remember this talented family of entertainers who performed at the county fair a couple years ago when they lived in Caney. A reception in the parish hall will follow the concert.Epiphany Episcopal Church was built in stages, with the main stone building constructed in 1908. The parish hall was added in 1948, as a result of a gift from the first vicar the Rev. Frank Armstrong, who served the parish from 1906-1909. A total of 15 vicars and rectors have led worship services at Epiphany during its 100-year history.The Rev. Jerry D. Rankin, who was the 10th rector of Epiphany, will attend the anniversary celebration and lead the worship service on Sunday morning, Aug. 24.
