Cedar Vale Teacher Presents at Summer Academy

Cedar Vale Teacher Presents at Summer Academy

Betsy Zadorozny, middle school teacher at USD 285, completed four days of workshops for the Kansas State Department of Education. Summer academies were given at three locations in the state to help prepare Kansas teachers for the State requirements in reading, math, science, writing, and social studies. Mrs. Zadorozny’s presentation consisted of hands-on science activities to assist teachers with the state science standards.

Her presentations were June 24-25 at Garden City High School and July 29-30 at Turner High School in Kansas City. The activities were taken from the book she wrote in 1997 called “Rubies Hands-On Science.” The third book in the series is based on using science experiments to motivate students to read and write about the activities that reinforce the Kansas Science Standards.

The workshops were attended by teachers and principals from Independence, Lenexa, Great Bend, Lansing, Leavenworth, Ulysses, Garden City, Holcomb, Topeka, Kansas City, and Oswego. Many of the workshop attendees purchased the books she wrote.
