Chautauqua County voters ousted their incumbent sheriff, Frank Green, in Tuesday balloting, replacing him with Perry Russell of rural Peru.

The total vote: 543 for Russell and 356 for Green — that’s roughly a 60/40 split.

Chautauqua County voters also cast ballots in favor of their home-county candidate Gary House who was running for District Judge against incumbent Russell Canaday of Independence.

The countywide vote was 575 for Canaday and 307 for House, but that was only in Chautauqua County. Montgomery County voters also had a major say in that race and so far they, too, are carrying House over Canaday. Final results should be ready by 10 or 10:15 p.m.

All other Chautauqua County races were one-sided with no opposition in most races.
