Sedan High School’s baseball team is the class 2A-1A regional champion and will advance to the class 2A-1A state tournament on May 29-30 in Emporia, Kan.
Sedan won the regional tournament by defeating West Elk, 7-6, in the regional championship finale on Tuesday.
Now 17-2, Sedan will enter the class 2A-1A state tournament as the third seed out of eight teams and will take on Humboldt, the sixth seed, in a 6:30 p.m., contest on Friday night, May 29. Read more

A community cookout will be held to honor the baseball team at the city park in Sedan on Wednesday, May 27 at 6 p.m. Family, friends, and fans are invited to attend. An award presentation will follow after the meal. Attendees are asked to bring table service and a covered dish.
The Kurtis Art School in Sedan is pleased to announce a Digital Photography Workshop presented by Gene Wineland, a professional photographer and college photography instructor for 35 years. The cost of the class will be $125 (minimum enrollment for the class to meet is six students). Each student must have a digital camera. Read more
Three area high schools will award seniors their high school diplomas this weekend. The class of 2009 will graduate this weekend at Sedan High School, West Elk High School, and Burden-Central High School.
Organizers of the Sedan Alumni Reunion are preparing for the 119th annual event, scheduled for Saturday, May 23 at noon, at the Sedan Fair Building at the City Park.
Tickets are available for $15 through Saturday, May 17. After that date the cost will be $20 until Friday, May 23. The day of the banquet the cost will be $25. Tickets are available at the First National Bank of Sedan, The Green Door, the Bank of Sedan and Sedan High School. Read more

Earlier this month, three members of the Sedan Junior and Senior High FCCLA traveled to Wichita for State STAR (Students Taking Action With Recognition) Competition. The competition was held at the Wichita Marriot.
Kaci Hartley and Laneta Bailey competed against six other teams from across the state for Chapter Service Project Manual. They received top gold for their efforts to assist a local para in our school as well as raise $1,548 for the Run with the Wolfes Relay for Life Team. They scored an average of 99 out of 100 from three judges. Read more
