Sedan High School’s baseball team is the class 2A-1A regional champion and will advance to the class 2A-1A state tournament on May 29-30 in Emporia, Kan.

Sedan won the regional tournament by defeating West Elk, 7-6, in the regional championship finale on Tuesday.

Now 17-2, Sedan will enter the class 2A-1A state tournament as the third seed out of eight teams and will take on Humboldt, the sixth seed, in a 6:30 p.m., contest on Friday night, May 29. Read more

The Sedan High School baseball team won their regional division playoffs to go on to the state playoffs. Detailed information and statistics can be found in this week’s Prairie Star.

A community cookout will be held to honor the baseball team at the city park in Sedan on Wednesday, May 27 at 6 p.m. Family, friends, and fans are invited to attend. An award presentation will follow after the meal. Attendees are asked to bring table service and a covered dish.

The Sedan area will be buzzing with activity this weekend with annual Memorial Day weekend events. From barbecue, to blues music, and arts and crafts, visitors and locals will be sure to find something that appeals to them. Read more

Organizers of the Sedan Alumni Reunion are preparing for the 119th annual event, scheduled for Saturday, May 23 at noon, at the Sedan Fair Building at the City Park.

Tickets are available for $15 through Saturday, May 17.  After that date the cost will be $20 until Friday, May 23. The day of the banquet the cost will be $25. Tickets are available at the First National Bank of Sedan, The Green Door, the Bank of Sedan and Sedan High School. Read more
