Another successful table setting was enjoyed by more than 200 guests from Elk County and beyond last Saturday evening.
The event, sponsored by the Elk County Community and Education Foundation and held at Moline Grade School, raised several hundred dollars which will be used to help fund a scholarship for seniors who live in Elk County or attend school there. There were 29 tables on display and each attendee received three chances to vote on their favorites. The top prize winners was “Fun, Faith and Fashion” by Traci Smith of Traci’s Trends. Second place went to “Checkerboard Chow” by Mills Feed and Supply, third to “Romantic Rose” by Carey Triboulet and Dana Denton, fourth to “Tea and Roses” by Marjean Jacobs.
Fifth prize went to Janet Hadlock and Family for “Grandmother’s Garden,” sixth prize to “Backyard BBQ” by Jane Osburn and Pam Watkins, seventh prize was awarded to “Down on the Farm” by Annette Barnaby and Velva Hoyt, eighth place to “Experience Elk Falls” by Jane Fry of Elk Falls Pottery, ninth to “Dine Like a Deere” by Shelly Hare and Beth Jones of Country Cakes and More.
Tenth place went to “A Spring Garden” by Judy Mills and eleventh to “Heritage Hall” by Debbie Roebuck and Debra Johnson. There were 11 prizes but “In the Pink” by Joan Murphy was also a very close twelfth.
Sponsors of the prizes included Lynn Thompson, who made a lovely mosaic bird bath; Howard State and First National Banks of Howard, who donated $50 savings bonds; and Sue Bauder of Red Barn Soaps, who give a lovely basket filled with soap. Karen Dahl of a Cut Above Hair Salon and Connie Saxton of Elk County Cuts, both donated hair styling supplies. Stephanie Lill donated a Mary Kay prize consisting of lotion and make up. Beverly Signer of Jankie Jewels gave a beautiful bracelet and Joan Murphy and Joyce Bischoff who own Crystal and Stone Handmade Jewelry gave a lovely watch. The Howard United Methodist Church donated mugs stating, “You’ve been Mugged by the Howard United Methodist Church.”
A delightful fashion show was presented by Traci’s Trends and many lovely young models. Prime rib was catered by “Ranchers Best Beef” owners Shawn and Dana Mills. The free viewing was attended by many people who were curious to see the tables and learn how a table setting worked.
Appreciation was extended to USD 282 and Moline Grade School for allowing the foundation to host its special evening in their school and to Prairie Star and SKT for their promotion of the event.
