Terry Ricketts, 58, died Monday afternoon, Dec. 7, 2009, in the St. Francis Hospital at Wichita where he had been a patient since Nov. 4 when he suffered a stroke.

christmas-musicThe Music Department of Sedan Schools will present their Christmas concerts on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 13 and Monday evening, Dec. 14 at the Warrender Auditorium.
The Sunday afternoon concert will feature the 5th grade band, 6th grade band, Jr./Sr. High School Concert Band, Select Choir and Concert Choir.  All groups will be performing traditional Christmas selections as well as a few newer songs.  The concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. and there is no charge for the concert.

Santa will be visiting Longton on Dec. 12 at 10 a.m.  He will be riding to town on the back of the City’s 1957 fire truck.
He will stop at 5th & Kansas, south of the Longton Grocery Store, to pass out bags of candy and listen to the kids wish list.
Following Santa’s visit the Longton Public Library will be having a open house.

jack-on-cameraA front page story in this week’s Prairie  Star tell about a video crew that visited Sedan on Tuesday to interview community leaders about the potential impact of a new Internet Communications Center. Such a center is still in the planning and will happen only if an application is successful to provide more than $2 funding to remake the landmark Bradford Hotel into a high tech center for broadband services.

The final decision on Sedan’s application probably won’t come until early next year, but local officials believe a press conference held in Topeka on Monday was a positive move. Read more
