Due to present and predicted weather conditions for tomorrow, Oct. 10, we must change the wine tasting location to the Rebecca Hall on Wabash Street, opposite the Cox Building in Howard. The rental fee has been generously donated to the ECCEF also. There is good parking and easy access if we do have some rain.

We welcome anyone to buy tickets at the door. The event will start at 3 p.m., and go for at least several hours. So please stop by even if you have to be late. We will have appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages also.

rob-hutchisonDr. Rob Hutchison, M.D., will be expanding his practice at Howard to include working with the Moline Clinic and Tallgrass Clinic at Sedan.

Hutchison, a native Elk Countian, returned to Howard two years ago after spending most of his career at Emporia.

Dr. Hutchison will be in Sedan each Thursday to see patients. He will be at the Moline Clinic each Tuesday. The remainder of his time, he will continue to see patients at the Howard Clinic.

rodeoThe 23rd Annual Sedan Invitational Ranch Rodeo is set to host the area’s top cowboys and cowgirls Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Lou Todd Memorial Arena in Sedan.

Work on two rural water projects are making progress which will result in more rural residents getting access to rural water.

Crews are working south of Sedan near the U.S. 166/99 intersection as they lay supply lines from the water treatment plant located north of Sedan to the Chautauqua County Rural Dist. No. 4 residents who live south and east of the city.

Libby Long, secretary of Rural Water Dist. No. 4, said the current construction project is for completion of Phase I which will provide running rural water to scores of Chautauqua County residents who have been hauling water or using wells for many years. Read more
