The Elk County Community Choir will come together again to present a Fall Singspiration on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Moline.
We are overwhelmed with the response to our inaugural event that was held in the spring and only hope that it will continue to grow. There are approximately 40 singers representing 12 area churches.
A special feature will be the guest appearance of “The County Liners.“ The County Liners are a traditional men’s quartet, featuring old time four part harmony. The men began meeting about 12 years ago, sharing a common interest in quartet singing and southern gospel music. Beginning with acappella singing, and soon adding piano; the quartet, for several years has presented the gospel message seasoned with a bit of humor. Much of County Liner music is taken directly from familiar hymn books, while a few songs have a modern origin.
Pianist for the group is Shirley Brown, Cedar Vale. Singers are Lowell Harp – Tenor, Barry Harp – Lead, Don Cox – Baritone and Dale Steward Bass. The County Liners all live near the boundaries of Elk, Chautauqua and Cowley counties, which provides the source and background for the “County Liners” name. Mission of this group is to present the Gospel Message in song.
In addition to The County Liner’s we also have several local specials planned throughout the evening.
The choir has performed at several community events throughout the summer. They were at the Moline Crazy Days, Howard Elk County Fair, Severy Labor Day Singspiration, Elk River Festival and Grenola Octoberfest. This is a great group of people who enjoy singing together for the Lord. It is a great time and fulfills you spiritually to hear this many talented voices come together as one.
The First Christian Church is located at the corner of 4th & Main Street in Moline. Refreshments will be served following.
