Editor Jenny Diveley announced this week a month long contest to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Prairie Star. The contest is called “Celebrating One Year of Smiles” and will center around a small “smiley face” that will be hidden each week during the month of September in each edition of the Prairie Star.
“This is our way of telling our readers thank you for a fun first year. We want reading our newspaper to bring a smile to faces every week,” said Diveley.
Beginning with this edition, Sept. 2, a small smiley face will be hidden among the pages in each edition through the fourth week of September. Once a reader finds the smiley face, they should fill out the form found in the newspaper and submit it to our office. A full page ad on page B1 explains the contest in detail and the various ways to submit an entry.
There will be a weekly drawing for $20 out of those weekly submissions. In the last week of September, all of the entires will be compiled and one name drawn to win a new iPod Nano.
“The idea is that it is best to find the smiley face each week and submit your entry, that way you’ll end up with four entries for the iPod,” said Diveley. “We hope that young people will really get involved and try to win every week. It’s a good way to draw the students to the newspaper.”
A full page ad will be in each edition with contest details and an entry form. See that ad each week for more information or call our office at 620-725-3176.
