Area schools will unite in prayer with the annual “See You At The Pole” (SYATP) event that will be held next Wednesday morning, Sept. 23.
West Elk
The Ultimate Challenge FCA at West Elk will hold the SYATP on Wednesday just after the last bus arrives at approximately 8 a.m., at the flag pole outside of the high school. A SYATP event has been held at West Elk every year since 1991.
The FCA will begin with a welcome, opening prayer, the origin of SYATP, followed by the flag salute. There will be various prayers for the communities, school, state, nation, economy, military, and world. There will also be performances by the high school music program.
The West Elk Ultimate Challenge FCA, under the direction of Penny Swanson, invites West Elk students and staff, as well as any community members who would like to attend.
Sedan
“See You At The Pole” will be observed in Sedan at the Sedan High School flag pole next Wednesday at 7 a.m. This event is open to anyone, any age, who wants to join with others around the world in praying for their schools, community, country and world situations.
SYATP is sponsored by the Sedan FCA Huddle and will be led by the FCA officers and other FCA members. The event will begin at 7 a.m. with the raising of the flag, flag salute and prayer for our armed forces currently serving the U.S.A. The theme for SYATP this year is “Engage: Go and Pray.” The students will present a short devotional, scriptures and poems relating to the theme, encouraging participants to realize the importance of prayer in daily lives and the difference that prayer makes to a warrior for God. Several praise songs will also be sung, along with “God Bless America” and there will be a time for small groups to pray.
In 2 Kings 22:13a, King Josiah proclaimed to the people, “Go and pray to God for me and for the people…”. 2 Kings 22:2 states about King Josiah, “He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and walked in all the ways of his father, David, not turning aside to the right or to the left.” King Josiah became king at the age of 8 and at the age of 16, he began to pursue God passionately, show signs of Godliness and gaining the respect of the people. That is the theme for SYATP – that God is raising up Godly young people to pursue God passionately.
The SHS students ask for their community’s support as they lead in this event. The actual service will last until about 7:30 a.m., with donuts, milk, and juice served at the closing. For more information, please contact Rosie Sweaney at 725-5740.
Central-Burden
Central-Burden Jr.-Sr. High will observe SYATP on that same morning with a meeting at 7:15 a.m. Central FCA will host the event that will be held at the flag pole in front of the school.
A moment of silence will be observed followed by a time of prayer with the students. All of the junior high and senior high students are invited to attend.
Elk Valley
Elk Valley School in Longton will hold a SYATP activity on Sept. 23 at 7:45 a.m. It will be held at the flag pole in front of the school. Students, staff, and area residents are encouraged to attend this time of prayer.
