Morton sentenced to 68 months in prison

Mark L. Morton of Elgin, Kan., was sentenced to 68 months in prison after being convicted of kidnapping and molestation of minors in Chautauqua County. Morton was issued the prison sentence in a hearing in Chautauqua County Court on Sept. 2.

Morton, age 50, was convicted with two crimes: two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a minor and one count of kidnapping. According to the complaint filed against Morton, the Elgin man allegedly had indecent liberties with a child under the age of 14 on April 6, 2008, and during a span between July 1 and Aug. 2, 2008. The court complaint says the kidnapping incident took place on July 1, 2008.

Lee Davidson of the Kansas Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the case.

Morton is also charged with similar crimes in Osage County, Okla., including two counts of lewd molestation, two counts of lewd or indecent acts to a minor child, and exhibiting obscene material to a minor.
