The Elk County Delinquent Tax List is being printed in today’s Prairie Star and will also be printed in the Aug. 19 and Aug. 26 editions.

This list comprises the names of individuals and businesses in Elk County that are delinquent in paying their 2008 real estate taxes, or those in previous years.

The properties listed are not for sale. This is a notice only to help remind owners of real estate that they need to contact the Elk County Treasurer’s office and make arrangements for payment.

Should they remain on the list four consecutive years, the properites will be sold by the county at auction. However such action would come only after owners are contacted personally and after several public notices are printed in this newspaper.

A similar delinquent real estate tax list for Chautauqua County would normally be printed in the Prairie Star this week. However, county commissioners in Chautauqua County appointed another newspaper to publish its legal notices this year.
