5156248-1025x682jpgEverything is all set for the annual Moline Crazy Days festival.  Starting off the activities this year is the free bean feed in the city park on Friday evening, June 26, at 6 p.m.   The baked goods and crafts auction will immediately follow the bean feed.  Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy an evening of fun with your friends and neighbors. fishing-2The Howard Area Lions Club has announced an upcoming Children’s Fishing Tournament that will be held on Saturday, June 27 at Polk Daniels Lake in Howard.

The Free Fishing Clinic will consist of a basic fishing class.  The Department of Wildlife and Parks will supply rods and bait.  The Fishing Contest will include a casting contest.  The contest will begin following the clinic. Read more

web-vbs-sedanSedan Community Wide Vacation Bible School is underway and will continue through June 19. The theme this year is “Crocodile Dock: Where Fearless Kids Shine God’s Light.”

On Monday we had 115 participants and 65 volunteers.  The opening and closing sessions are at the First United Methodist Church of Sedan.  Children ages 4 to 8th grade are invited to attend, it’s not too late.

The community is invited to come to the closing each day at 11 a.m. to hear about what everyone has learned.  This year we are again collecting school supplies as our mission project, we are also collecting donations for the local food pantry.  Donations may be left in the foyer of the Methodist Church. Continued rumors that a dollar store will soon locate in downtown Sedan have caused members of the Sedan Area Economic Development Committee to get considerable feedback from local residents.

Many residents are concerned that opening a dollar store would have a negative effect upon existing Sedan retail stores such as Duckwalls, Floyd’s Market and Ackarman Hardware. Read more

1455355993_1105940c61jpgThe Howard Elk County Fair Association is sponsoring their annual Howard Mud Run on June 13 at the Howard Fair Grounds beginning at noon.  The event will serve as a fundraiser for the 2009 Howard Elk County Fair.

There will be eight truck classes and seven ATV classes, divided by age.  The entry fees are $20 for trucks and $10 for ATV’s.  MAMR rules apply. Read more

Elk Konnected’s Youth Development Action Team will be hosting a free day camp for 7 to 12 year old children.  Konnected Kids will be held Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Seven high school students will serve as camp counselors throughout the five week program.  Campers will have the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities, eat lots of good snacks, socialize with other campers and complete a variety of art and craft projects. Read more
