The Howard Chamber of Commerce is preparing for a busy couple of weeks ahead that will help spruce up the area.
The 26th Annual Garage Sale Weekend will be held in Howard on Friday, June 5-Sunday, June 7. Maps will be available on June 4.
To participate in the sale, stop by the Elk County General Store at 132 S. Wabash in Howard or call 620-374-2683. The cost will be $5 to be on the list and map for the sale. The deadline to participate is June 2.
The Howard Spring City Wide Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, June 13. This is for items not in the usual weekly trash pickup like appliances, furniture and other bulky items. They cannot accept items like batteries, tires or construction debris. For information on the cleanup or to request assistance with your items, call the Howard City Office at 374-2202.
The Howard Lion’s Club plans to assist by picking up items from residents unable to haul their own. Anyone who is available to assist with the event, please contact Benji at 374-2495 and he will give you further information.

The Howard Chamber of Commerce annual Steak Fry is Tuesday, June 23 at 6:30 in the evening. It will be held at the Howard City Polk Daniels Lake at the shelter house.
Tickets are $10 and available from Shirley Black, Dana Denton, Patsy Lanning, Lynne Thompson and Joanna Hunter.
