Sedan High School’s baseball team is the class 2A-1A regional champion and will advance to the class 2A-1A state tournament on May 29-30 in Emporia, Kan.
Sedan won the regional tournament by defeating West Elk, 7-6, in the regional championship finale on Tuesday.
Now 17-2, Sedan will enter the class 2A-1A state tournament as the third seed out of eight teams and will take on Humboldt, the sixth seed, in a 6:30 p.m., contest on Friday night, May 29.
A win against Humboldt would put the Blue Devils in a semi-final game against the winner of Pittsburg-Colgan/Chase County at 12:30 p.m., Saturday while a loss against Humboldt would end Sedan’s state tournament appearance.
The state tournament’s consolation game will be played at 3 p.m., while the championship game will be played at 5:30 p.m.
All tournament games will be played at Soden’s Grove in Emporia.
