The Round-Up Club will have a rodeo Friday and Saturday night.  The car show is scheduled to be at the fair grounds on Saturday along with the Caney Antique Tractor Club. Read more

healthThe 24th Moline Health Fair will be held this Saturday, May 2 from 8-10 a.m., in the Moline Grade School.

Participants will be able to receive a chemical blood profile which measures blood glucose, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, cholesterol, protein, potassium, and BUN, for $27.  This test requires a 12 hour fast. Read more

Everyone is invited to come and have fun taking in the beautiful Chautauqua Hills, while helping the Sedan Willing Workers raise money.

The Willing Workers will host a motorcycle poker run, a chance to win a mini chopper, $100 in gas, and a 50/50 drawing. All proceeds are going to the Sedan Willing Workers. The schedule of activities will be held Saturday, May 2 with a rain date of Saturday, May 9. Read more

A jury trial for an Elgin man charged with kidnapping and molesting minors has been postponed until June.

In a hearing last Wednesday, April 22, in Chautauqua County Court, the trial date for Mark L. Morton was moved to June 4-5. Morton’s jury trial was originally scheduled to begin on April 22.

Morton is charged with two crimes: two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a minor and one count of kidnapping. According to the complaint filed against Morton, the Elgin man allegedly had indecent liberties with a child under the age of 14 on April 6, 2008, and during a span between July 1 and Aug. 2, 2008. The court complaint says the kidnapping incident took place on July 1, 2008.

Lee Davidson of the Kansas Atttorney General’s Office is prosecuting the case.
