COFFEYVILLE — Declining sponsorships and ticket revenue to the Jayhawk Shootout — an annual basketball tournament at Coffeyville Community College — has prompted CCC president Don Woodburn to ask visiting teams to consider giving up financial guarantees to attend the three-day tournament.

In a written report at Monday’s CCC trustee meeting, Woodburn reported that he had asked the presidents of the 19 other colleges that attend the annual tournament to consider not receiving a financial guarantee from CCC for attending the tournament. The college presidents will consider Woodburn’s offer at a meeting in March.

COFFEYVILLE — A rural Cherryvale resident invited Coffeyville Community College board of trustees to a March meeting with Independence Community College board of trustees to explore possible consolidation of the two colleges.

Coffeyville Community College’s football team will compete in the North Star Bowl in Rochester, Minn., on Saturday, Nov. 21, it was announced at CCC’s football banquet on Monday night.

CCC will take on Rochester Community and Technical College in a game that is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m., in the UCR Regional Sports Stadium in Rochester.
The bowl will mark the Red Ravens’ first post-season bowl appearance in three seasons.

CCC (6-4) is ranked 19th in the Nov. 16 NJCAA national polls while Rochester is ranked 14th (10-1).
