Cherryvale man indicted on federal drug charge

Three men who allegedly made about $800,000 selling methamphetamine in Kansas City were indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday.

Luis Hernandez, 50, of Kansas City, Jerry Dean Matlock, 55, of Cherryvale, Kan., and Jesus Roberto Zamudio Beltran, a Mexican citizen, were named in the indictment.

From 2008 until mid-August, undercover police conducted 31 drug transactions with Hernandez, according to the indictment.

Besides the $800,000, federal prosecutors also are seeking the forfeiture of property and vehicles allegedly obtained with illegal drug proceeds.
