COLDSPRING, Texas – Former Caney resident Susan (Lingle) Rodgers, 67, of Coldspring, Texas, died July 24, 2011, in Coldspring.

Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m, Friday, July 29, 2011, at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, a son and their families and a brother, Chuck Lingle who was also a former resident of Caney. Numerous other relatives also survive.

Susan was a graduate of Caney High School.

CANEY — Former Caney resident Rachel Ellen Hoad, age 88, of Newport News, Va., died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the Newport News Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale with Potts Chapel of Cherryvale handling arrangements.

COFFEYVILLE — Anita Mae Compston, age 78, of Coffeyville and former Wann resident, died Saturday morning, July 16, 2011, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday July 20, at the First Baptist Church of Wann. Interment was at the Dewey, Okla., Cemetery.

The family has suggested memorial remembrances to the First Baptist Church of Wann and remembrances will be received at the funeral home.

CHERRYVALE—Gary Nixon, 63, of rural Cherryvale, Kan., died July 6, 2011, of a heart attack at his home. He had been in his usual health and his death was unexpected.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Cherryvale. Donations can be made to the Mt. Zion Community Church through any branch of the Community National Bank.

TOPEKA — Cherryvale native and former Independence resident Rosetta (Bulger) Burns, age 98, of Topeka, Kan., died on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Sweet Life at Grand Court in Overland Park, Kan.

Funeral services have been held, and burial was held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.

NEODESHA — William “Bill” Pingrey Wertz, age 86, of rural Neodesha died Monday, July 11, 2011, at his home.
