Cancer survivors to celebrate at Relay For Life

COFFEYVILLE — The American Cancer Society will celebrate salute cancer survivors and recognize the importance of cancer research during the annual Relay For Life set for Friday night and Saturday morning at Ise Athletic Field in Coffeyville.

“The Most Magical Place On Earth” will be the theme for the annual event, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with the cancer survivor lap around the Ise Athletic Field. Lining the entire distance of the quarter-mile track will be luminaries in honor of people who have lost their battles to cancer. A luminaria lighting ceremony will be held at dusk.

Kids’ games and events, silent auctions, and various team activities with plenty of food will be held during the Relay for Life event.

Persons are encouraged to donate to the cause by going to www.relayforlife.org/coffeyvilleks or donating to a Relay For Life team or individual. Cancer survivors who plan to make the Survivor Lap can register starting at 5:30 p.m., Friday.
