TYRO — Wyatt Cody Smith, infant son of Heath Cody and Dawn Raquel (Fuller) Smith of Tyro, died Wednesday evening, May 11, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 17, at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville.

James “Jim” Johnson

DEARING — James Martin “Jim” Johnson, age 67, of Dearing died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at his home.

He was a former city administrator in Cherryvale and was an assistant city manager in Coffeyville.

A Celebration of Life service was held Sunday, May 15 at the Cedar Bluff School with the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Rosella “Rose” Vann-McNeil

INDEPENDENCE — Rosella “Rose” Vann-McNeil, age 87, formerly of Independence, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 in Houston, Texas.

Memorial services were held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Young Chapel COGIC with burial held at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleas Temple COGIC in care of the funeral home.

Beulah Daisy Caldwell

COFFEYVILLE — Beulah Daisy Caldwell, age 99, died Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service was held Monday, May 16, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with Pastor Wayne Martin officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory.

Donations are welcomed to the American Heart Association in memory of Mrs. Caldwell.

Andrew “Andy” Edward Medford

COFFEYVILLE — Former Coffeyville resident Andrew “Andy” Edward Medford, age 52, of Houston, Texas, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in Pryor, Okla., at his sister’s home while staying with her.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. A private family inurnment will have already taken place.

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Integris Hospice of Mayes County. These maybe left with the funeral home.

Billy “Bill” Bateson

INDEPENDENCE — Independence resident Billy “Bill” Bateson died Sunday, May 15, 2011.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, at the Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence.

Visitation hours will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Potts Chapel in Independence.

The family has suggested memorials to AWOL or the Zion Lutheran Church and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence.

Mary Alice Hughes
THAYER — Mary Alice Hughes, age 81, of Thayer died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, Kan.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 20 at the Thayer Christian Church. Family visitation will be held at the church from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening; Mary Alice will also be in state from 10 a.m. until noon Friday prior to the service. Burial will follow at Neodesha City Cemetery.

Memorial remembrances may be made to the Thayer Christian Church in care of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel.

Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jack M. Brothers

CHERRYVALE—Jack M. Brothers, age 87, of rural Cherryvale died at Saturday, May 14, 2011, at his home. He had been in declining health.

Mr. Brothers’ wishes were for his body to be donated for medical research.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 19, at the Mound Valley United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
