Primary election for ICC trustee race set for Tuesday

Voters in the Independence Community College tax district will go to the polls next Tuesday, March 1, for a primary election that will reduce the number of trustee candidates from 10 to nine.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

The ICC trustee election is the only one in Montgomery County that will require a primary election on March 1. All other elections for city council, school boards and community college trustees will be held on Tuesday, April 5.

The 10 candidates for the ICC board’s three positions include (an asterik denotes incumbent):

David Wallis, 32345 Highway 169, Cherryvale

Jack Reddick, 108 Bermuda, Independence

Phillip D. Fienen, 1861 S. 17th, Independence

Dale Roberts, 2613 Rolling Green, Independence

Frank J. Crebase, 417 W. Myrtle, Independence

Jay Jones*, 1201 W. Oak, Independence

Kenny Wilson*, 309 S. 9th, Independence

Tom Tyler, 401 S. 5th, Independence

Deborah L. Sandoval, 202 W. Locust, Independence

Hoite Caston, 301 S. 4th, Independence

Voters who will go to the polls include only those who reside within the ICC tax district, which includes Independence, Cherryvale, Elk City, Sycamore and the following townships: Cherry, West Cherry, Independence, Liberty, Louisburg, Rutland, Sycamore and Fawn Creek (Tyro Precinct only).
