A Belgian Malinois dog that has a trained nose for sniffing out drugs in tight or hidden spaces has now become the property of the City of Cherryvale.

CHERRYVALE — Three Cherryvale High School seniors are vying for the 2011 CHS Winter Sports Homecoming Queen title, which will be announced at coronation ceremonies Friday night.

The coronation will take place between the Cherryvale/Fredonia varsity women’s and men’s basketball games — roughly 7:30 p.m. — in the CHS Gymnasium.  Last week’s Montgomery County Chronicle incorrectly listed the coronation would take place at halftime of the varsity men’s game.

Vying for the homecoming title are CHS seniors Camden Blaes, Myranda Prather and Emily Caraway. Their escorts will be CHS senior basketball players Matt Allison, Kendall Beye and Aaron O’Brien.

The coronation ceremony — and the CHS homecoming dance to be held after the men’s basketball game — will finish a week full of homecoming activities and special theme days. Among the special themes were camouflage day, duct tape day, and dress as a twin day.
