CHERRYVALE — Dollar General, which opened the doors to its new location at 312 S. Liberty two weeks ago, will hold a grand opening of its new store at 8 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 22.

At the grand opening event, customers will enjoy special deals and free prizes. The first 50 shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag, among other giveaways.

An erratic driver traveling through a wreck zone on 10th Street Road south of Independence last Thursday was arrested along with two others.

Sheriff Robert Dierks said sheriff’s deputies were conducting traffic control on county road 3900, or 10th Street Road, as a wrecker was removing a vehicle from a ditch. While slowing traffic around the wrecker, an erratic driver traveled through the zone.

Cited was Charles A. Alderman of 708 S. Fourth, Independence, for driving under the influence and being in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
