COFFEYVILLE — Joyce Kathleen “Kathy” Caldwell, age 57, of Coffeyville died late Monday night, Dec. 27, 2010 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating. Interment will follow in Robbins Cemetery, west of Coffeyville, under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory.

Visitation will take place at the funeral home, Wednesday, 1-8 p.m., with family receiving guests from 6-8 p.m.

IRVING, Texas — Former Independence resident Jeff Tindle, age 54, of Dallas, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010 at the Baylor Medical Center in Irving, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at the Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel in Independence with the Reverend Dee Williamston, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Independence, officiating. Interment will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel from noon until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The family has suggested memorial remembrances to Independence Lions Club Kiddy Land Project or the Mark Asa Tindle Memorial at Independence High School and remembrances will be received at the funeral home.

CHERRYVALE — Melba Nadine (Bozarth) Wagner, age 90, of rural Cherryvale died at
Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services will be held held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, at the Cherryvale Assembly of God. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Dennis.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening at the church. Friends may call the church after 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

CANEY – Bonnie Sue Levan, age 70, Caney died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at her home in Caney after a short illness.

Her Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at the Assembly of God Church, Caney, with burial to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, Caney, under the direction of Potts Chapel in Caney.

Visitation at Potts Chapel will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 27, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

CANEY –Larry Gene Magee, 69, of Caney, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at the Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, Okla.

His graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Sunnyside Cemetery, Caney, under the direction of Potts Chapel, Caney.

Visitation at Potts Chapel, Caney, will be until 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 20, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

INDEPENDENCE — Richard Lair, age 51, of Independence died Tuesday morning, Dec. 21, 2010, at Jane Phillips Memorial Medical Center in Bartlesville.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan. Interment will be under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel of Independence. The casket has been closed and friends may call to register at the cemetery.

INDEPENDENCE — Doris Mae (Blevins) Horton, age 85, of Independence died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at the Grace Memorial United Methodist Church of Independence. Burial was held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence.

ELK CITY – Dewayne McGaha, 67, of Elk City, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at the Abilene Regional Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.

His Celebration of Life Service was held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at the Potts Chapel in Independence. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, under the direction of Potts Chapel.

INDEPENDENCE — Johnnie Cue Fowler, age 94, of Independence died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday Dec. 23, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Roosevelt K. DeShazer, officiating. Interment will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery.

ALTAMONT — Former Cherryvale and Mound Valley area resident William F. “Bill” Shields, age 57, of Altamont died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Altamont. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont.

CANEY — William E. Wright, age 46, of Niotaze died Sunday night, Dec. 19, 2010, following a one-vehicle accident two miles west of Caney on Bronco Road.

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — Caney native Peggy Ann (Bradshaw) Mintdrop, age 74, passed away at her home in Blue Springs, Mo., on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley location, 100 Royer Lane, Grain Valley, MO. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following.

COFFEYVILLE — Velma Marie Edington, age 87, of Coffeyville died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 at Windsor Place in Independence.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Edington will lie in state on Wednesday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. with family greeting friends from 4 until 6 p.m. She will also be in state Thursday morning from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions maybe made to the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 1186 and remembrances maybe left at the funeral home.

INDEPENDENCE — Longtime Independence pharmacist John Stephen DeFever, age 61, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010.

Funeral services, under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel, will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, the First United Methodist Church in Independence with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. There will be a family visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Thursday night, Dec. 16, 2010, at the family home (2724 Fairway Drive).

COFFEYVILLE — Harold “Bish” Hubert Hall, Jr., age 86, died early Thursday morning, Dec. 9, 2010 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Lenapah United Methodist Church. Burial was in Coffeyville’s Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.

Military rites will be provided by Big Red One of Fort Riley, Kansas.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Highland Cemetery in Winfield, Kan. . JOPLIN, Mo. — Former Cherryvale newspaper publisher Glenn C. Lagow, age 86, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, in Joplin, Mo.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 13, at Christ’s Community Methodist Church in Joplin, Mo. The Reverend Chris Sloan will officiate. Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m .to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel.

Lagow was a former owner of the Cherryvale Citizen newspaper.
