The Cherryvale Chamber of Commerce is hosting a celebration of duty for the 10 soldiers from the Cherryvale group that have served in Afghanistan for the past year. They returned home on Dec. 23 just in time for the holidays with their families.

The chamber will be having a chili supper in honor of them at New Life Praise and Worship, 308 N. Liberty, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30. The public is invited to attend, with the special guests of the soldiers and their families.

Special Cherryvale Packages will be given to each soldier for their service to not only our country, but to our community. If you have anything for the packets, or would simply like to donate towards them, please contact Tina at (620) 891-0072.

The following soldiers will be honored at this event: Shane Harris, Andrew Snider, Aaron Plumley, Dustin Housel, T.J. Montgomery, Jake Rion, Tyler Gay, Johnny Moore, Eric Brodersen and Vincent Gonzalez.
