CHERRYVALE — Three people were injured in a fire that swept a Cherryvale residence early Friday morning, Dec. 3.
According to a press statement issued by the City of Cherryvale, firefighters were summoned to a house in the 600 block of Main shortly after 2:30 a.m. Flames and smoke had engulfed the home when firefighters arrived. The home was occupied by two adults and six children.
One adult with injuries was flown by helicopter to a Tulsa medical center while a child with injuries was flown to a Wichita medical center. One additional child was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital for treatment of injuries.
The Kansas Fire Marshal’s Department, with assistance from the Cherryvale Fire-Rescue Department, is investigating the cause of the fire. However, arsons is not suspected at this time, according to the press statement.
