CANEY — A 40-year-old Caney man has been arrested following the investigation into a Chautauqua County home invasion and the theft of several firearms.
Sheriff Robert Dierks said Shawn G. Timmerman, age 40, was arrested at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23 after a search warrant was executed at his Caney home. Dierks said law enforcement had received information that Timmerman had several stolen firearms in his possessions — firearms that were believed to have been taken in the home invasion.
Chautauqua and Montgomery County sheriff’s department members collaborated on the investigation.
Timmerman was taken into custody without incident and was arrested on an arrest warrant for failure to appear in court. Charges relating to the Chautauqua County home incident are also pending. A female who was at the Timmerman residence was also detained briefly but was released at the conclusion of the search warrant.
The two stolen firearms were recovered and turned over to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department.
