CANEY — One of six Caney Valley High School senior boys and one of six senior girls will be crowned the 2010 CVHS Fall Homecoming King and Queen in coronation ceremonies at 6:30 p.m., Friday evening, Oct. 1, at the CVHS Stadium. It should be noted that inaccurate information was provided to the Montgomery County Chronicle last week concerning the time of the coronation; the ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. and not 6 p.m. as reported.
The king and queen candidates are: Dustin Bayless, Gage Billingsley, Dalton Lockwood, Kurt Lockwood, Casey Melander and Skye Richey; queen candidates are Sarah Boatman, Melanie Davis, Rachel Estes, Mercades Price, Lyndsay Roper and Jessica Wyrick.
Students have been celebrating homecoming week this week by dressing in different themed attire. Today, Thursday, is “Boot Day” and Friday students will dress for “Red and Blue Day.”
A homecoming parade will be held tonight (Thursday) immediately following the Caney Valley Junior High football game. The parade will begin at Wood Street and continue east on Fourth Street ending at the high school upper parking lot. A pep rally and bonfire will then take place to urge the Bullpups on to victory as they take on the Fredonia Yellowjackets in football action at 7 p.m., Friday night at the CVHS Stadium.
Following the football game Friday night, a homecoming dance will be held at the high school.
The public is urged to attend all homecoming events.
