fkhshomecomingweb COFFEYVILLE — Field Kindley High School will host a variety of activities for Spirit Week, which is set for Sept. 20-24, culminating in Homecoming football and coronation on Friday, Sept. 24.

Spirit Week is sponsored by the FKHS Student Council with Julie Newby as sponsor. Each weekday is specifically designated as a “dress up” day so that the students can show their school spirit.

COLUMBUS — The murder of a Coffeyville woman one year ago remains unsolved. However, an area sheriff says the investigation in the murder of Brittney Sue Fox, age 19, of Coffeyville remains a high priority.

Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves said his department continues to gather tips and seek leads into the murder of Fox, whose body was found one-quarter mile east of the U.S. 166/K-26 highway junction in rural Cherokee County on Sept. 22, 2009.

When H.H. Tucker, Jr., left the newspaper business in Cherryvale and opened an oil company in 1905, he truly believed that the oil patch and the oil company board room would be his new home.

However, he did not know at the time that his newest home would be the courtroom.
