Pupfest set for Aug. 27 at Caney park

The Caney Valley Bullpup Booster Club’s third annual “Pupfest Party in the Park” will start at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 27, in Wark City Park, and organizers are gearing up for another huge event. The evening will be filled with free games such as basketball toss, baseball throw, dunk tank and many more which will be manned by CVHS athletes, and the CVHS cheerleaders will also do face painting.  CVHS FFA members will have a stick horse barrel racing and dummy roping.

A pep rally will take place around 7:45 p.m. to cheer on the Bullpup athletes as they begin their new fall season of sports.

“Pupfest Party in the Park” is the organization’s kick-off event for the new school year. A membership table will be set up so that individuals, businesses, alumni, families, and anyone interested in supporting the students will be able to sign up for membership that evening. The Caney Valley Bullpup Booster Club holds monthly meetings during the school year. The club’s mission is to bring the community together to provide the funding and volunteerism necessary to give the Bullpup athletes the supplies, facilities and community support they need to reach their full potential as athletes.

Free hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks will be served to those attending, and concession workers say they are ready to cook 1,000 hot dogs that evening. Food items are being donated by Floyd’s Town & Country Supermarket and Arvest Bank.

Other free treats will include sno-cones, courtesy of Gunny Sack; popcorn stand courtesy of Bank of America; and balloons donated by Community National Bank. Several employees from those businesses will be there to hand out the items.

The public is invited to attend the Pupfest Party Friday night and there is no age limit. Everyone is urged to attend and be a part to encourage USD 436 students as they start their new school year.
