BREAKING NEWS: Major wind storm strikes Cherryvale on Monday night, July 12. Microburst winds, estimated at 80 to 100 miles per hour, swept through Cherryvale, causing significant tree damage and power outage. Cherryvale Fire-EMS Department said late Monday that 17 properties were investigated in which power lines were down. No injuries have been reported thus far. Westar Energy is in Cherryvale to restore power, and Jim Miller of the Montgomery County Emergency Preparedness Office is in Cherryvale for a preliminary assessment of damage.
