INDEPENDENCE — The Independence fireworks show for 2010 has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

Jim Kelly, who led a fundraising drive for the Independence fireworks display, said pyrotechnics made the call shortly before noon Monday to cancel the show, fearing that increased moisture would ruin the firework shells.

The show was scheduled for July 4th but was postponed to July 5th due to rain.

Kelly said Independence’s fireworks display will be held sometime in late August or on Labor Day weekend.
