Approximately 270 Caney Valley High School alumni, their spouses and guests attended the 2010 USD 436-Caney Valley High School Alumni Banquet on May 29 in the Lincoln Grade School Gym.
The welcome was given by alumni president, George Rau (1953) followed by a prayer given by Doug Hanlon (1975).
A short business meeting was held to discuss if the alumni banquet was to continue as in the past, or to do away with the catered meal and just meet to visit with friends and alumni and enjoy snacks and drinks. A motion was made by Jim Harris, (1960) to continue the alumni banquet as in the past years with numerous alumni seconding the motion which carried unanimously. Barbara (Barnett) Bush (1973) also helped conducting the business meeting.
Caney Valley High School FFA student Jennifer Quigley helped during the banquet with assisting alumni in the serving line as a community service project.
Linda (Allison) Cowan (1966) assisted with handing out door prizes to the following: first in-town reservation, Jim Marion (1949); first out-of-town reservation, Guyla (Ashbrook) Barger (1955); oldest alumni attending, Ruth (Morrow) Johnson (1934); farthest alumni to travel to banquet, Clyde Rinck (1955).
The banquet was catered by End-O-Main from Watonga, Okla.
