INDEPENDENCE — An employee with the Montgomery County Department of Corrections was arrested on Friday (April 30) on drug theft charges.

Sheriff Robert Dierks said Amy L. Brown of Independence was arrested followed a multi-week investigation.  Dierks alleges that Brown, an employee with the corrections department, stole intimate medication from the medical cart in the county jail.

Dierks is recommending that Brown be charged with theft, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, and dispensing of medication without license.

“Our employees are entrusted to protect and serve this community,” said Dierks. ”This type of action will not be condoned by the administration of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department of the Department of Corrections.”
