Montgomery County native Mi
tch Rolls, a starting point guard for Colgate University, was named to the Patriot League’s All-Rookie Team for the 2009-10 season.
Rolls, who played his first two prep seasons at Caney Valley High School before finishing his high school career at Field Kindley High School, played in all 28 regular-season games with 24 starting assignments for the Colgate Raiders. Rolls is fourth on the team in scoring with 6.8 points per game and leads the team with 99 assists and is fifth in the Patriot League with 3.5 assists per game.
Over the last five games Rolls has averaged 12.6 points and 5.4 assists per game. Rolls is also one assist shy of 100 this season, he would be the first Raider to accomplish that feat since Dave Hardy dished out 120 during the 2002-03 campaign.
“Being a first year point guard normally comes with some growing pains but over the last two months of the season Mitch has been playing at a very high level, said Colgate head coach Emmett Davis. “He is running the team with the confidence of an upperclassman and this has been one of the main reasons that we have been able to go 4-3 during the second half of league play.”
