Arrests made in armed robberies, assault cases

Two Coffeyville people have been arrested on suspicion of robbing convenience stores in Independence and Coffeyville in late January while six others have been arrested on a related aggravated battery case in early February.

Commander Mike Brown of the Coffeyville Police Department says Adam D. Godinez, age 19, of 1505 W. First, Coffeyville, and Joshua D. ALlison, age 19, of 2436 CR 4500, Coffeyville, have been arrested and face charges (two counts) of armed robbery following the robberies of the Bailey’s Corner Store, 1308 W. Eighth, Coffeyville in on Jan. 25, and the Casey’s General Store, 1301 N. Penn, Independence, the following night.

Those arrests were made on Feb. 16 as the two were being held in the Montgomery County Jail for an aggravated battery incident that took place on Feb. 5. Godinez is also charged with aggravated battery and aggravated intimidation of a witness plus four counts of aggravated assault while Allison faces one count of obstructing the legal process plus four counts of aggravated assault stemming from the Feb. 5 incident.

Also arrested in the Feb. 5 assault incident were:

• Julia M. Bell, age 18, of 1412 W. 10th, Coffeyville: charged with aggravated intimidation of a witness.

• Donald E. Marshall, age 20, of 702 Hibbard #M Coffeyville: charged with obstructing the legal process.

• Donald E. Wright, Jr., age 19, of 502 W. 3rd Coffeyville: charged with obstructing the legal process.

• Jessica L. Welch, age 19, of 953 Crescent, Independence: charged with aggravated intimidation of a witness.

• A 16-year-old female of Coffeyville: charged with aggravated intimidation of a witness, aggravated battery and obstructing the legal process.

• A 16-year-old male of Coffeyville: charged with obstructing the legal process.

Subsequent to the arrests of Allison and Godinez, the Coffeyville Police Department, with the assistance of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, executed search warrants on their respective residences in order to recover evidence associated with the robberies. The Dearing division of the Montgomery County Rural Fire Department assisted with the execution of one of the search warrants in rural Montgomery County.
