Curtain to rise on CVHS Playmakers’ production

CANEY — The Caney Valley High School Playmakers will brighten the stage of the CVHS Auditorium with the theatrical presentation of “Just Another High School Play.”

The play will be held on Friday, Feb. 5 for Caney Valley Jr.-Sr. High School students. Two public performances are scheduled: 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6 and 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 7.

Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students.

The comedy, written by Bryan Starchman, covers every angle of a high school drama department, where the teacher abandons students as they prepare for a theatrical production. It’s up to the students to fend for themselves opening night in front of a live audience.

What follows is a rollicking show full of physical comedy, gags and satirical rewrites of many plays — from Shakespeare to Albee.

“It’s a good, wholesome comedy with lots of different turns,” said Amber Toth, CVHS Playmakers sponsor.
