
The Cherryvale City Council on Thursday (Oct.
unanimously voted to appoint Greg McDanel as the city administrator. The selection comes after an extensive search process that reviewed 20 applications, interviewed seven semi-finalists and narrowed the field down to three finalists.
McDanel comes to Cherryvale from the City of Independence, Mo., where he served a versatile role in the Public Works Department. While in Independence he provided administrative oversight for employees and contract services in land acquisition for capital improvement projects. He also provided leadership in obtaining economic stimulus grants and federal transportation funding.
His credentials include a bachelor of science degree in geography from Northwest Missouri State University and a master of public administration degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with an urban administration emphasis. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and a past member of the Missouri City/County Management Association (MCMA). McDanel is also a Graduate of the Mid-America Regional Council Academy for Local Government Executives and an active volunteer in the community.
