COFFEYVILLE — Flames heavily damaged an abandoned railroad warehouse structure in Coffeyville early Tuesday morning, Aug. 11.

The rear portion of the former Missouri Pacific freight house, located at South Walnut and 12th streets, was destroyed by fire, leaving only the original freight house offices remaining intact.

The freestyle motocross show at the Inter-State Fair and Rodeo in Coffeyville was postponed on Monday night, Aug. 10, due to rain and weather. It will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11. The demolition derby will follow the freestyle motocross at 8 pm.

All tickets for the freestyle motocross will be honored on Tuesday night and will admit the bearer to both the freestyle motocross and the demo derby.

Tickets sold on site will be $15 and will include both events.

TYRO — The Tyro Christian Church will celebrate its centennial anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 9, and a full day of events are planned for the occasion.

David Bycroft, minister for 40 of those 100 years, said it will be a day of praise and worship, touring the half-completed building project, getting re-acquainted with many former members who plan to attend and listing to a 100-voice choir totally composed of TCC members.
