CHERRYVALE — The U.S. Postal Office in Cherryvale will celebrate the appearance of hometown favorite Vivian Vance on a U.S. pos
tage stamp by presenting an enlargement of the stamp to Vance’s relatives in a ceremony planned for 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Vance was best known for her portrayal of Ethel Mertz on the “I Love Lucy” TV show of the 1950s and as Vivian Bagley on the “Here’s Lucy” series of the early 1960s.
The ceremony will be held at 309 W. Sixth — Vance’s birthplace. It is also a home owned by Imogene Littell, who is Vance’s second cousin. Postmaster Dan Wishall plans to present the enlarged stamp replica to Littell as well as two other Vance cousins in Cherryvale: Carilyn Clark and Jack Ragan.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
