HUTCHINSON, Kan. - Levi DeWitt, son of Dan and Linda DeWitt of Caney, graduated from level 1 of the Future Astronaut Training Program (FATP) on June 6 at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center. Levi will be a seventh grader at Caney Jr. High School in the fall.

INDEPENDENCE — County commission chambers will be permanently relocated to the basement of the Montgomery County Judicial Center under a plan adopted by commissioners on Monday.

Commissioners agreed to proceed with using the northern portion of the judicial center basement as the location for commission meetings and an adjacent conference room. The basement is now used for large gatherings and other community meetings.

CHERRYVALE — Final details are being placed on the plans for the Cherryvale Youth Fair, which will be held in Logan Park on July 8-11.

Dubbed the “biggest little fair in Kansas,” the Cherryvale Youth Fair traditionally signals the start of the fair season in the Montgomery County area.
