The Caney Valley Antique Power Association will hold its annual Pioneer Days festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 29-31, at the association’s grounds 3.5 miles north of Caney on U.S. 7 highway.
The festival will feature numerous activities, crafts and skills that harken back to the days of vintage agricultural machinery.
Admission is by donation only.
The festival will include children’s games, a pedal pull, parades, a quilt show and many crafters displaying their talents and products. Among the vintage demonstrations at the festival will be wheat threshing, steam engines, saw mill, plowing and tractor parades.
The association also will feature Ford tractors and Fairbanks engines for the 2009 show.
On Friday evening, the association will host a bean feed with the beans cooked over an open fire. Homemade ice cream also will be provided — all of which is totally free.
The always-popular tractor pulls will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday with the garden tractors, followed by the larger tractors and farm stock at 1 p.m. To enter a garden tractor, call (620) 926-0017. For more information about the larger tractors, call 620-870-9684 or 879-0375.
