CHERRYVALE — Plans were announced at Monday’s Cherryvale City Council of a military veterans’ celebration in November.

The event is being planned by a trio of Cherryvale residents — Ryan Knop, Janice Kidd and Tom Werner — who want to provide a day to honor military veterans in the Cherryvale area.

The event will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Although details are still in the planning stages, Knop told city councilors that the event could include a parade, bean feed, a service at Logan Park, and a Memory Wall in which veterans could be honored by local residents.

More details about the Veterans Day celebration will be announced in the coming weeks, Knop said.

City councilors voiced enthusiastic support for the event and congratulated Knop, Werner and Kidd in organizing the salute to U.S. military veterans. Councilors also said they would be glad to provide Logan Park as a site for the celebration and to provide whatever resources that could be made available for the parade.
