Dolly Mae Reed

LAWRENCE—Dolly Mae Reed, 73, of Lawrence, Kan., died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She had been a Lawrence resident since 1958.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 18, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Dolly Reed Burial Fund and sent in care of the mortuary.

Dolly was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Chetopa, Kan., the daughter of Edward Blurton, Sr., and Darlene Blurton-Winborn.

She did domestic work for several families in Lawrence and then worked at the Hercules plant before retiring. She was a member of the Lawrence Baptist Temple in Lawrence.

She married London Reed, Oswego, Kan. He preceded her in death.
Those surviving are one daughter, Laura Reed, Kansas City, Mo.; three sons, Jeffery, Pennsylvania; Randall and Eric, Lawrence; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Ann; and a son, Barry Lynn; two brothers and eight sisters.

Debra Joan Saunders

PARSONS—Debra Joan Saunders, 53, of Parsons, Kan., died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Good Samaritan Society of Parsons.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs with burial to follow in Edwardsville Cemetery in Edwardsville. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to CLASS Ltd. in care of Debbie Jones, P.O. Box 266, Columbus, KS 66725.

Karen Lynn Stotts

MIAMI, Okla.—Karen Lynn Stotts, 55, of Miami, Okla., formerly of Chetopa, Kan., died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. Burial will be in Miami National Cemetery, Miami. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Valentine “Val” Hernandez

PARSONS—Valentine “Val” Hernandez, 90, longtime Parsons, Kan., resident, died at Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Labette Health in Parsons.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic School gymnasium, with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the Rosary.

Memorials are suggested to either the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or to the Good Samaritan Society. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.

Evelyn M. Hildebrand

DERBY—Evelyn M. Hildebrand, 77, of Derby, Kan., formerly of Parsons, Kan., died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008.

A service will be scheduled at a later date. Smith Mortuary of Derby is in charge of arrangements.

W. Jeanne St. Clair

PARSONS—W. Jeanne (Burgess) St. Clair, 87, of Parsons, Kan., died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Labette Health.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Highland Cemetery in Iola. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the American Diabetes Association and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, 67357.

Grace Hibbs

PARSONS—Grace Hibbs, 75, of Parsons, Kan., died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Cemetery with the Rev. Sharon Billman officiating. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home.

Peggy E. Minton

TULSA, Okla.—Peggy Elaine Minton, 58, died on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, in Tulsa.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow and burial will be in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.

Misty Bentsen

LATHROP, Mo.—Misty Bentsen, 31, of Lathrop, Mo., and a former Parsons, Kan., resident, died from injuries received in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning, Aug. 7, 2008, south of Cherryvale, Kan. Her grandparents, Cleon and Mae Blackburn, also died in the accident.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 14, at First Baptist Church of Plattsburg, Mo., with the Rev. Robert Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Plattsburg. A visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Plattsburg.

The Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Parsons and the Bailey & Cox Funeral Home of Plattsburg, Mo., are in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Tryce Bentsen Education Fund.

Mae Blackburn

PARSONS—Mae Blackburn, 77, of Parsons, Kan., died Thursday morning, Aug. 7, 2008, in a two-vehicle accident south of Cherryvale. Also killed were her husband, Cleon Blackburn, and her granddaughter, Misty Bentsen.

A double funeral service for Mae and her husband Cleon will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Revs. John Chastain and J. B. Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery near Dennis.

Memorials are suggested to the Cleon and Mae Blackburn Memorial Fund. The use of the fund will be determined later.

PARSONS—Cleon Blackburn, 75, a lifelong resident of the Parsons, Kan., area, died Thursday morning, Aug. 7, 2008, in a two-vehicle accident south of Cherryvale. Also killed were his wife, Mae, and granddaughter, Misty Bentsen.

The service for Cleon and his wife, Mae, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons with the Revs. John Chastain and J. B. Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery near Dennis.

Terri G. White

CHERRYVALE—Terri Geneva White, 47, of Cherryvale, Kan., died Thursday morning, Aug. 7, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident south of Cherryvale. Her husband, Henry “Hank” White was also killed in the accident.

Services are pending under the direction of Potts Chapel of Cherryvale.

Henry Andrew “Hank” White

CHERRYVALE—Henry Andrew “Hank” White, 44, of Cherryvale, Kan., died Thursday morning, Aug. 7, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident south of Cherryvale. His wife, Terri White, was also killed in the accident.

Deborah L. Schultz

CHETOPA—Deborah L. Schultz, 49, of Chetopa, Kan., died at 6:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Oswego Community Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Ron Schultz, of the home.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday at Faith Baptist Church, Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Chetopa. Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday. Arragements are under direction of Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, Chetopa.

Dixie A. McColm

COLUMBUS—Dixie A. McColm of Columbus, Kan., died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008.
as the result of complications from an on-going illness.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug.13, at the Park Cemetery in Columbus. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Weir.
