The Parsons Police Department is investigating the death of an infant Wednesday morning at 1521 S. 25th Street. Police and emergency crews were dispatched at 11:24 a.m. to a report of a 3-month-old boy who was not breathing. The infant, identified as Dominic D. Mosely, Jr., was later pronounced dead at Labette Health.

Officers are currently investigating, and an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death. Parsons Police Chief, John Keele, said that the investigation is a routine matter when a child dies.

New director, Christopher Langsford will be behind the baton when the Community Band performs on Thursday, 23 as part of the Music In the Park series in Parsons.
The year marks the 14th anniversary of the re-formation of the Community Band originally formed by former Parsons music instructor, Gordan McDonald.
The Music in the Park series evolved from the Community Band’s twice-monthly concerts that were originally performed on the gazebo of the Parsons Plaza.
Next week’s featured artist will be Aaron Keith.
The Music in the Park concerts are held at The Seaton Family Pavilion located in Forest Park at 13th and Broadway in Parsons. Read more

The Labette Assistance Center, 1929 Crawford, Parsons, has cancelled distribution of Food Commodities through TEFAP to Labette County Residents planned for Monday, Feb. 7 .  Due to the winter storm, shipments were not available as scheduled.

Once the conditions clear, and food shipments can be moved to distributing agencies, a new date will be announced.

Labette Community College will be the host of an all day professional development day for Kansas child care providers. The free workshop will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 7:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Child care providers are encouraged to attend this free training opportunity and courses related to child safety, new regulations from the state, update CPR certification, and learn about grants available for licensed providers.
