Labette County High School will hold its annual Basketball “Pop” Scrimmage on Tuesday, Nov. 24,  in the Harrison Gymnasium beginning at 6 p.m.
Admission is a container of soda or gatorade per person.
Concessions will be available and all proceeds go to support LCHS Athletic and Activity Programs.

Labette County Choral and Theatre Departments will present “Guys and Dolls” based on a story by Damon Runyon, music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows on Nov. 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 14 at 2:30 p.m. in Harrison Auditorium.

The freshman and junior varsity football games that were originally scheduled to be played at Lucas Field on the campus of Labette County High School, have been moved to Independence for Tuesday Sept 8.
The location of the games is the only change regarding these 2 football contests.

The freshman game will kick off at 5 p.m. as usual.

The junior varsity game will kick off at approximately 7 p.m.

Months of hard work and rehearsals came to fruition on Saturday evening, May 23, when the Music Company from Labette County High School opened on the big stage for “The Legends In Concert” at the Dick Clark American Bandstand Theater in Branson, Missouri.
Fifteen students under the direction of LCHS choral teacher, Randy Blackwell, sang and danced to a nice sized and enthusiastic Memorial Day Weekend crowd. Read more

MANHATTAN, Kan. – A member of the Labette County FFA Chapter was recognized Thursday for having one of the best career development programs in the state at the 81st Kansas FFA Convention.

Bradley Don Bohnenblust received a State FFA Proficiency award during the convention for outstanding accomplishments he has made in developing programs that will prepare him for a career in agriculture. Read more

Labette County High School Junior AP Language and Composition Student, Michael Sexton, has been selected as the first place winner of the Day and Zimmermann Kansas Chapter of National Management Association Essay Contest said Chairman, Mark Powers.
Michael is the son of Jeff and Marla Sexton of rural Altamont.

Three Excellence in Education Awards were presented at the annual Labette County USD 506 Staff Appreciation Luncheon held on March 9. One elementary teacher, one high school teacher, and one support staff member are chosen annually as recipients of the award. All staff members have opportunity to nominate staff from their building for the awards.
Selection criteria for nominees include: at least five years of district service; exhibits outstanding service to the district; goes above and beyond the normal job requirements; enriches the lives of students; serves as a good example for all; exhibits professional courtesy; sets and achieves goals to improve job performance.
Steve Spencer – Support Staff Recipient –– he serves as district Maintenance Director. This is his 24th year of service to USD 506.
Heather Wilson – LCHS Teacher Recipient –– she has taught English at LCHS for the past 12 years. She received her B.S. degree from PSU in 1997 and her M.S. degree in 2002.
Mary Manuel – Elementary Teacher Recipient –– she teaches seventh and eighth grade at Mound Valley Grade School. This is her 18th year of teaching. She received her B.S. degree from PSU in 1991 and her M.S. degree in 2001.
