Labette County Elections Officer Linda Schreppel was given approval at Monday’s commission meeting to pursue a HAVA Endowment Program for election equipment.
Schreppel request was for software at a cost of $36,095; voting equipment $10,267; and poll books $2,175 for a total endowment request of $48,537. The county’s part would cost $4,853.
“It should save $10,000 in programming costs and ballot styles in every election. It will improve and save the county money,” Schreppel said.
“It is a good opportunity if the county only has to pay out 5 percent,” Commissioner Brian Kinzie said.
The approval was given contingent on grant funds availability, and be taken out of the election fund.
IN OTHER ACTION TAKEN at Monday’s meeting:
• T&M Stone Quarries, LeRoy Tarr, owner, introduced himself to the commission. “I’m just drumming up business,” he said.
